Howl.gg review

Howl.gg has no case battles. It is the only site in our top five without them, and it skips case opening and upgrader too.

What it offers instead looks more like an online casino that happens to take Rust skins: a wheel, slots, dice, blackjack and live dealer tables, plus the two PvP pots, jackpot and coinflip. If you have spent scrap at the Big Wheel or the slot machines in Bandit Camp, the lineup will feel familiar. If you came for battles, you are on the wrong site.

Howl sits fourth in our ranking at about 3.7 out of 5. Its best score is game variety at 8.0, and its weakest are bonus value and support, both at 7.0.

A casino-style lobby for skin players

Seven game types are listed, and most of them are house games where you play against the site's odds rather than against other players. That matters for how you budget. In a coinflip, the site takes a fee and the rest is between you and the other player. In slots or blackjack, the house edge works on every single bet, and fast games mean a lot of bets per hour.

User experience scored 7.5, behind the three sites above it. With slots and live tables in the mix, a casino-style site simply has more to organise than a battle site. Start by finding the fairness page and the cashier, then decide which games to try.

What nine years of history does and does not prove

Howl launched in 2017, the same year as RustEasy and RustyPot, which makes it one of the three oldest sites we rank. A long run counts for something: it gives the community years to report problems, and we read through those reports on Reddit, Discord and Trustpilot for every review. Age alone does not earn a top trust score, though, and Howl's sits at 7.5.

The site is listed as provably fair. That covers house originals such as dice, wheel and the PvP pots, where a hashed server seed, your client seed and a nonce produce each result and you can recompute it once the server seed is revealed. Slots and live dealer games usually come from outside providers and work differently: their fairness depends on the provider's random number generator and its testing, and you cannot check a single spin yourself the same way. Our guide to how provably fair works explains which games the method can and cannot cover.

No KYC is required under normal use. Bank transfers and large withdrawals are common triggers for a document request, so keep your account details accurate. Players in the United States and the United Kingdom are blocked, and a VPN to get around that breaks the terms.

Using the CSGOCORN rakeback boost

Our code gives a 25% instant rakeback boost. Rakeback returns part of the house's expected take on your bets, so it pays out on volume, win or lose. To apply it:

1. Sign in to Howl.gg.
2. Find the promo or affiliate code field, usually in your account or rewards area.
3. Enter CSGOCORN and confirm.
4. Check that the boost shows as active before you start playing.
5. Play as usual, then claim your rakeback from wherever the site shows it.

The hard part is valuing it. "25% rakeback boost" can mean two different things: your rakeback rate is set to 25%, or your existing rate is increased by 25%. The terms will say which, and the difference is large.

Here is an example with made-up numbers. Say you wager 1,000 coins in total on a game with a 4% house edge. The house's expected take is 40 coins. At a 10% rakeback rate you get 4 coins back. A rate of 25% would return 10 coins, while a 25% increase on 10% would make it 12.5% and return 5 coins. Either way, rakeback softens losses. It does not turn a losing game into a winning one.

Bonus value scored 7.0, joint lowest with support. The boost rewards steady players and does little for someone who deposits once to look around. Check our bonus codes page for the current offer.

The games, from wheel to live dealers

Wheel

A spinning wheel split into coloured segments with different multipliers. You bet on a segment, and the rarer it is, the more it pays. It is the closest thing on the site to the Bandit Camp Big Wheel, and our guide to gambling inside Rust covers how the in-game version works.

Jackpot and coinflip

The two PvP modes. Jackpot pools skins from several players and picks a winner weighted by each player's share of the pot. Coinflip is a two-player 50/50 with matched stakes. The site's fee is the cost in both, so check it before you join. Our coinflip and jackpot explainer shows how the fee changes your real odds.

Dice

You choose a target number and whether the roll lands over or under it. The win chance and the payout move in opposite directions, and the gap between them is the house edge. Dice is one of the easiest games to verify with provably fair seeds.

Blackjack

Standard blackjack against the dealer. Rules such as how blackjack pays and when the dealer stands change the house edge, so read them before playing for real.

Slots and live dealer tables

This is what sets Howl apart from every other site in our top five. Slots run on fixed return-to-player (RTP) settings, so look for the RTP figure in each game's info panel. Live dealer games stream real tables with human dealers, which suits players who distrust animated results but makes for slower rounds. Neither is provably fair in the way the house originals are.

Banking at Howl, bank transfer included

Bank transfer is the standout. No other site we rank lists it, and for players who do not hold crypto and do not want to sell skins on the Steam Community Market, it is a direct way to get winnings into a normal account. Bear in mind that many banks restrict payments to and from gambling sites, and a bank payout is also a likely reason for a document check. Ask your bank before you rely on it.

The minimum deposit is $5.

What slows a payout down

Payout speed scored 7.5. We do not give withdrawal times, because they vary with the method and the request:

• Bank transfers move on banking days and depend on your bank's processing, so they are usually the slowest route.
• Crypto waits for network confirmations; Bitcoin is slower than Litecoin, Tron or Solana.
• Skin withdrawals depend on the item being available, and on Steam trade holds if your authenticator is missing or new.
• Large amounts often go through manual review before they are released.

If speed matters most, crypto on a fast network is the route to use. Our piece on using crypto on Rust sites covers coins and fees.

Support without a Discord server

Howl lists two support channels, live chat and email, and support scored 7.0, joint lowest of its six marks. Live chat is the place for quick questions; use email for anything about money, so there is a written trail.

Our data lists no Discord support channel, so treat anyone offering Howl support on Discord as suspect unless the site itself sends you there. Fake staff accounts are one of the common routes to Steam item theft, and nobody legitimate needs your Steam API key.

The players Howl suits

Howl suits players who want slots, blackjack and live tables with the option to deposit Rust skins, players who would rather cash out to a bank account than to a crypto wallet, and regulars who play enough volume for rakeback to add up.

Skip it if case battles, case opening or upgrader are why you gamble skins, if you want support through Discord, or if you live in the US or UK.

Howl next to RustReaper, RustMagic and RustEasy

RustReaper has the widest casino-style list we rank, from limbo and baccarat to slots and keno, and it adds case battles. It scores lower than Howl, with trust at 6.5, and it was founded in 2021.

RustMagic is the other site in our ranking with live dealer games, and it pairs them with case battles, upgrader and slots. It opened in 2023 and also scores lower, at 6.0 to 7.0 across the board.

RustEasy shares Howl's 2017 start, offers blackjack and roulette next to case battles, and outscores it on every criterion, though it has no slots or live tables. For a full side-by-side, see the comparison table.

Slots and live tables are among the fastest ways to lose a skin inventory, because rounds never stop and there is no natural break between them. Decide your budget and a time limit before you open a game, and use the tools on our responsible gambling page if either starts slipping.
